The Romance Writers of America sponsors two incredibly prestigious writing awards: the RITA® for published writers and the Golden Heart® for unpublished writers. This year I was one of the lucky finalists who got “the call,” letting me know that my VALHALLA’S KING manuscript was a finalist in the paranormal category of the Golden Heart. Around 1,200 romance manuscripts are entered in the Golden Heart each year. The project has to be completed and longer than 20 000 words. It’s time for my inaugural post at See Jane Publish. In honor of Halloween month October, all the Janes are writing about scary things in writing and publishing. Hop on over to see what terrifies me. I’m on my way toward becoming a professional writer, an author. I know this because I’ve measured success one rejection letter at a time. Slowly—oh so slowly—the responses to my queries went from no reply to form reply to personalized rejection to editorial feedback. And then, I arrived in that magical place where agents and editors wanted to read my first three chapters. Some …

I’m so honored to be part of the new journey of See Jane Publish. We launch today! “In June of 2011, three friends got together to blog out their trials, tribulations, and triumphs on the road to romance publishing. As with many journeys, their paths to publication wended and wandered, and their destinations took them further afield from See Jane Publish. So now eight new friends have stepped out onto the yellow bricks to share their adventures along the way.” Diagnosis, with the help of a doctor, can help you out and be your best friend! There are several different …
