On See Jane Publish: First Draft Dance

by Asa Maria Bradley November 21, 2013
    November 21, 2013

In honor of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), the writers of See Jane Publish talk about their first draft process this month. Today is my turn and I blog about the similarities about a first draft and learning to dance with a new partner. What type of dance does your first draft process resemble? Come on over and join the discussion. I love National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), because I finished my very first manuscript by signing up for NaNo many years ago. Since then, I’ve finished quite a few first drafts. Writing a new story is like learning to …

Lily Myers – “Shrinking Women” (CUPSI 2013)

by Asa Maria Bradley November 11, 2013
    November 11, 2013

I’m not a good poetry reader. Basically, I think my brain is to scattered to give the words of a poem the attention they need to properly speak to me. For a long time, I was sad that I couldn’t appreciate good poetry. But then, I realized that I am an awesome poetry listener. When a poem arrives auditory to my brain, I am amazed, in awe, and transported to a better place. Today, this happened via this video. I’ve watched it five times and still get chills down my spine. Powerful. Precautions generico cialis on line may lead to …

On Bark Today: Used, but Infinitely More Interesting

by Asa Maria Bradley November 5, 2013
    November 5, 2013

I’m blogging on Bark today about treasures I’ve found in used books. Stop by and tell me what you enjoy most about reading someone else’s book. In the romantic comedy Serendipity, Kate Beckinsale’s character writes her phone number in a used book and tells John Cusack’s character that if faith wants them to meet again, the novel will find its way back to him. The movie isn’t very interesting after that, but that scene outside the bookstore made me think about the treasures I’ve found in used books. There are, of course, herbal oil to improve length of erection in men is …

    First See Jane Publish Post!!

by Asa Maria Bradley October 17, 2013
    October 17, 2013

It’s time for my inaugural post at See Jane Publish. In honor of Halloween month October, all the Janes are writing about scary things in writing and publishing. Hop on over to see what terrifies me. I’m on my way toward becoming a professional writer, an author. I know this because I’ve measured success one rejection letter at a time. Slowly—oh so slowly—the responses to my queries went from no reply to form reply to personalized rejection to editorial feedback. And then, I arrived in that magical place where agents and editors wanted to read my first three chapters. Some …

On Bark Today: The Uniqueness of a Character’s Voice

by Asa Maria Bradley October 8, 2013
    October 8, 2013

I’m on Bark today, talking about how much I learned about voice from Sophie Littlefield’s Stella Hardesty series. Stop by and join the conversation. As an extra bonus, your comment enters you into a drawing for an author-signed copy of A BAD DAY FOR SORRY, the first book in this fantastic series. “Very early in my writing life, I shared a story with some local writers during an event at the library where I lived in California. My prose told of an adventure involving pirates, pick-pocketing urchins, and buxom wenches. The writers read my tale and after a long moment …
