It’s summer, I don’t have to go back to full time teaching until the fall and in between the projects on my to do list for this time off (garden work that will never happen, filling out the paperwork for becoming an American citizen, brushing the dog, planning for lessons, watching bad TV) I thought I would do some writing. However, my motivation to put words on paper plummeted to the lowest low when Monday’s mail brought  two rejection letters. Scott, Shira, and Sam have already “barked” on the subject and I don’t have anything to add other than that this video of Irish comedian Dylan Moran as the main character in the TV series Black Books reacting to a recent rejection letter cheered me up. Well, just because you are suffering from a secretworldchronicle.com cialis uk disease not many men feel proud of, you choose to call it, purges the toxins from your mind and gives you strength and confidence.
What do you do to cheer yourself up after one of these missives show up in your mail or inbox?

All those years I tried to get published and got rejected my response was, “I’ll show ’em” and went back to the wip. But it all piled up. A final straw and depression set in. When feeling low, I read Georgette Heyer. Usually one or two would have me laughing again and ready to get back to work. This time I read my whole Heyer shelf and wanted more. I wrote one. And discovered I’d been working in the wrong field altogether. I guess I wish I’d gotten depressed much sooner!

Good tip Jeanne. Whenever I read some one who inspires me I feel a little better, or at least motivated to keep going despite rejections. 🙂
